About

Founded in 1947, Thespian Troupe 824 was charted as one of the earliest performing arts organizations of its time. Bakersfield High School Theatre Department to this day still continues the 73 year tradition. What is a Thespian? Actors, actresses and tech crew that reach 100 theatre participation hours are inducted into the International Honor Society where students are recognized for their hard work and dedication on and off stage. Throughout the department many jobs and activities are student-run, for example this website was brought to you by students! Others manage social media, publications, fundraising, costumes and so much more! Click here to learn how to get involved backstage.

The California Thespian Festival is held every spring in Upland, California. Students from all over California come to this three day festival! The Thespian Leadership and Technical Conferences offer a variety of enlightening opportunities for all theatre interests. Students can engage in leadership training in areas of publicity, stress management, fund raising, troupe bonding, and many other exciting prospects. There is an IE for everyone!
